The Expo is being held at the Laugardalshöll sports arena. The opening hours are Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Intro

The Reykjavik Marathon is an atmospheric and surprisingly versatile marathon in the world's northernmost capital. On your way to the finish, you will enjoy everything Reykjavik has to offer: fresh sea air, colorful streets and impressive nature right at your fingertips.

The course takes you past picturesque Tjörnin in the old town, where the modern city hall is also located in the middle of the water. Then you walk towards the coast and to the suburb of Seltjarnarnes, with beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean. Along the way you'll pass the iconic Hallgrímskirkja, among others, and enjoy wide panoramas, with views of surrounding mountains if the weather is clear.

The marathon takes place in August, when temperatures are usually pleasant, averaging 8-15°C. With a combination of nature, tranquility and typical Icelandic charm, Reykjavik is a unique destination for those seeking a special marathon experience.

You will travel on your own to the Center Hotel Klopp in Reykjavik. You may spend the first evening in beautiful Reykjavik as you wish. For example, you may choose to explore Reykjavik's culinary scene, where there are more than 350(!) restaurants.

Friday, Aug. 21, 2026

You will wake up in your 3-star hotel and start the day with a hearty breakfast included in the package. On this day, you will need to collect your race bib. The rest of the day can be spent exploring the many attractions of downtown Reykjavik or its suburbs. You will also have the option to choose from more than 300 tours to visit the city’s 43 main sights and landmarks.

The day of the Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K! Once again, you can enjoy the included breakfast to be ready at the starting line. In the morning, the race will begin, taking you through Reykjavik’s most beautiful sights. Along the route, several aid stations will be available to ensure you have everything you need during the run!

A well-deserved rest day that you may arrange yourself with a lazy day or an active day around town. From the organization, participants have free access to Reykjavik's geothermal baths on the day of the race and the day after the race. A great opportunity to take a well-deserved rest after yesterday's achievement!

Monday, Aug. 24, 2026

The very last day of the trip. Today you will go home on your own. After this trip you will be a medal and a unique experience richer!

Marathon Reykjavik
