Intro
Running through the active volcanic area where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet makes the Iceland Volcano Marathon a truly unique event! Participants cross the Northern Volcanic Zone in northern Iceland during the very first edition of this marathon.
The scenery is spectacular: geysers, black volcanic sand, glaciers, and small craters. This geothermal area is still active today and offers the prospect of an unforgettable experience.
The roads are unpaved, making this marathon a true adventure. Does the full marathon distance feel too demanding? No problem: you can also opt for the half marathon!
