Intro

You don't get any closer to the marathon's origins. Known worldwide as The Authentic, the Athens Marathon is not called the "Mother of Marathons" for nothing. From the start in the town of Marathon, you will run to the heart of Athens along the historic route that makes this distance so special. The finish in the impressive Panathinaikon Stadium, where the first modern Olympic Games took place in 1896, gives this marathon a unique charge.

The course is beautiful, but certainly not easy. After the first 10 kilometers, the undulating and ascending part of the route begins, with quite a few altimeters to overcome. With about 10 kilometers to go, you reach the outskirts of Athens and the course gradually descends again. It is precisely this combination of history, challenge and a spectacular finish that makes this marathon an experience that will stay with many runners for a long time.

The weekend also offers great opportunities for runners who do not want to run the full marathon. The marathon can also be run as a Power Walk. In addition, the 10K starts on Sunday morning, the last 5 kilometers of which are on the marathon course. Additionally, a 5K race is scheduled on Saturday afternoon.

This trip is suitable for runners and walkers who want to combine an athletic challenge with one of the most historic running experiences in the world. Would you like to participate in the marathon, Power Walk, 10K or 5K? Feel free to ask us about the possibilities for your trip to Athens.
