Intro
Organized since 1991, the Lisbon Marathon is known for its relatively flat course and lively atmosphere. Numerous music and dance groups perform along the route, enthusiastically accompanying the runners to the finish line.
The course largely follows the coastline and runs on wide roads, with beautiful views of the Tagus River and the architectural highlights of the city. This makes the course uncluttered, but at the same time varied and inviting for a constant pace. Thanks to the mild autumn climate, with temperatures around 14-20°C, conditions are often ideal.
Those who find the full marathon distance too long can participate in the half marathon during the same weekend, making Lisbon a perfect destination for both beginners and advanced runners to discover the city athletically.
