The TCS Amsterdam Marathon is one of the largest marathons in the Netherlands and is known for its fast, flat course and strong organization. Start and finish are in the iconic Olympic Stadium; a unique setting where you can feel the atmosphere even before your first kilometer.
The course follows parts of the historic Olympic route of 1928 and takes you through the city and the green countryside. You run along the Amstel River with stately homes and windmills, pass the Johan Cruijff ArenA, and through the heart of Amsterdam past the Rijksmuseum and the Vondelpark. The alternation between city and nature, combined with enthusiastic spectators along the entire course, makes this a special experience.
The marathon takes place on Sunday, October 18, 2026 (start 09:00) with a time limit of 6:00. You can pick up your start number at the expo in RAI Amsterdam, the organization advises not to do this on Saturday due to crowds. The weather in October is usually ideal for running with an average of 7-14°C.

The day before the race is full of optional activities. You can start with a morning walk through Amsterdam, or join the Morning City Run — a great way to explore the city at a faster pace. Today is also your chance to collect your race bib, between 9:00 and 19:00. Prefer to watch instead? Cheer on the runners in the 7.5K — a new race introduced this year to celebrate Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary. In the evening, the Pasta Party is scheduled for those who have registered.
