On this day, you will fly with KLM from Amsterdam to Copenhagen. Your flight departs at 9:45 am and arrives in Copenhagen at 11:05 am. Then you will go to hotel Cabinn on your own. Possibly, from 15.30 it is possible to join a running tour through the city (pace 5-6 minutes per km)

All participants will meet at Terminal 2 of Copenhagen Airport, from where the afternoon flight to Greenland will depart. Since Air Greenland does not cooperate with other airlines, it will be necessary to collect your luggage in Copenhagen and check in again for the flight to Greenland. Check-in closes one hour before departure: therefore, if you do not arrive in Copenhagen on a morning flight on Thursday 29 May, we strongly recommend arriving one or more days earlier. A flight of about 4.5 hours will take us to Kangerlussuaq, landing at 6:20 p.m. local time (GMT -3). A meal will be served on board.
From there, we will continue with a domestic flight to Ilulissat. Due to the small size of the local aircraft and the limited number of seats, the group will be split across several flights. Our arrival in Ilulissat is scheduled late in the evening, followed by hotel check-in.
Once settled, we invite you to join a delightful evening walk to discover Ilulissat. Accompanied by one of our tour leaders, we will explore the city’s historical and cultural highlights. The tour will start at the historic Hotel Hvide Falk and continue past Zion Church, the local fish market, and the colorful houses leading to the harbor. Along the way, you will hear fascinating stories about the city’s origins, its development over the centuries, and the importance of fishing culture. This will be the perfect opportunity to experience Ilulissat’s authentic spirit, with your guide happy to answer all your questions.

After breakfast at the hotel, the day begins with a light walk to ease off the travel stiffness. We will head to the Sermermiut Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized for its exceptional beauty and unique importance to glaciology. This is one of the must-do activities in the region, located about 2 km south of Ilulissat, starting from the old heliport. From there, we will enter the UNESCO area along a wooden boardwalk leading to the famous Sermermiut ruins. This ancient settlement was home to different Inuit peoples for more than 4,000 years: the stone remains of old turf houses can still be seen on the surrounding hills. Walking through the site, we will reach Nakkaavik, a cliff whose name means “the place to fall.” Your guide will be happy to explain the origin of this curious name. From here, we’ll enjoy a breathtaking view over Kangia, the famous Ilulissat Icefjord with its massive icebergs. While exploring this enchanting landscape, your guide will prepare hot coffee and tea to warm you against the Arctic breeze. We’ll return to town along the same wooden path.
In the afternoon and evening, you’ll have the chance to experience the Icefjord from the water on an unforgettable boat trip. We will board small 12-passenger boats, led by experienced guides who will share their knowledge as we navigate among the ice giants. Whatever the weather, the sight is always spectacular: icebergs sparkle in the sun, while clouds enhance the extraordinary shades of blue hidden within the ice. Four departures are scheduled: two before dinner and two after.
In the evening, all participants will gather for a pasta dinner and the race briefing. This will be the last opportunity to change your chosen distance and ask questions to the organizers. Tonight, you’ll also have the option to join an evening kayak excursion.

The big moment is almost here! The morning and afternoon are free to rest, explore, or get ready for the long night ahead. For those who want a taste of local culture, a limited number of participants can join a “Kaffemik” experience at the home of a Greenlandic couple. The marathon starts at 9:00 p.m., and the half marathon at 10:30 p.m.; all races will finish no later than 4:00 a.m.

Today is a well-deserved day of rest and recovery. Many of us will probably sleep in until late morning, but it’s also a chance to explore on your own or join one of the optional excursions. Among these, we offer a special “hike & sail” adventure to Oqaatsut, a small and authentic village located 20 kilometers north of Ilulissat, as well as a full-day trip to the impressive Eqi Glacier. In the evening, all participants will come together for the gala dinner: a festive occasion to celebrate the achievement of the previous night, share stories, and relive the highlights through the race video.

One last day to enjoy the charm of Ilulissat and its stunning surroundings. You may choose to explore the area on your own or, if you haven’t tried kayaking yet, we highly recommend it! Alternatively, there is a final optional hike and sail excursion to the settlement of Oqaatsut, for those who were unable to join the previous day.

Unfortunately, it is time to leave Ilulissat. In the morning we will fly to Kangerlussuaq, from where we will continue with our return flight to Copenhagen, scheduled to arrive around 9:30 p.m. A meal will be served on board. After the flight, you will make your own way to the Cabinn Hotel.

By late morning, you will make your own way to the airport for your return flight to the Netherlands. Your KLM flight is scheduled to depart at 8:55 p.m. and arrive in Amsterdam around 10:25 p.m.
