The EDP Lisbon SuperHalf on March 8, 2026 is one of the most appealing spring races within the SuperHalfs Series. Every year, thousands of runners from all over the world travel to the Portuguese capital to experience this fast, atmospheric and beautifully located event. The start on the imposing Vasco da Gama Bridge is an experience in itself. From this iconic bridge, you descend toward the city and follow a route along wide boulevards, modern neighborhoods and historical highlights such as the Padrão dos Descobrimentos and the characteristic Belém. The course is gently rolling, uncluttered and ideal for runners who like to run at a tight pace or aim for a personal best.

Along the way, enthusiastic spectators, music and the relaxed Portuguese atmosphere provide a warm welcome. You fly to Lisbon and make your own way to the hotel. A useful tip is to purchase the Lisboa Card, which gives you free access to public transport and several museums. The card also offers discounts at many shops and tourist attractions. Must-see highlights in Lisbon include the Belém Tower, the 25 de Abril Bridge and the São Jorge Castle. Another recommendation is to take a ride on the old Tram 2, which winds its way through narrow streets and sharp turns, guiding you through the city’s different neighbourhoods. Along the way, you’re very likely to hear the sound of Fado music in the background — a genre born in Lisbon and often performed live on terraces, in bars and restaurants.

The day before the Half Marathon is mostly free to spend as you wish. The only commitment is to pick up your race bib; after that, you’re free to explore Lisbon at your own pace. A great idea is to visit the lively Bairro Alto district, where you can enjoy plenty of bars, restaurants, unique architecture and a vibrant atmosphere. Make the most of this day and get plenty of rest — Sunday is the big day!

The big day has arrived: today is the Lisbon Half Marathon. Will you set a new personal best, or cheer enthusiastically from the sidelines? That remains to be seen. What we do know is that you will enjoy a truly unforgettable experience, whether you are running or supporting. Every participant will receive a certificate and a medal as a keepsake of the race. Once the race is over, you are free to spend the rest of the day as you wish.
